The Plymouth Dog Training Club holds a Puppy and Pet Obedience training classes at St Edwards Church Hall, Eggbuckland. PL6 5RN on a Wednesday evening
A Pet Obedience training class is held on a Tuesday at Cottles Lodge Scout Hut Plympton PL7 2AU. Please see below for more details and class times.
All our new puppies (10 - 16 weeks old) start at Eggbuckland Church Hall on a Wednesday evening. Tuesday evening class at Plympton are for dogs over 4 months old. There is no need to book these classes, you are welcome to join on the night you first attend (there is a £10 annual membership fee) and participate in your first training session (Puppies/dogs must have proof of vaccination to join). You can, if you prefer, attend without your dog prior to joining the Plymouth Dog Training Club.
Puppy Socialisation and Basic Training Class
Wednesday evenings only 6:30pm - 7:15pm. - Classes are £1.50 (payable each time you attend)
This class is aimed at puppies from 10 to 16 weeks of age (although this is only a guideline, we may admit slightly older puppies depending on individual needs, please contact us if you need advice). Puppies will need to have had their first vaccination programme (your vet will advise you when it's safe for your puppy to mix with other dogs). In this class the puppies (& new owners) will be taught a range of simple exercise including getting the puppy familiar with walking on the lead. It is a 6 week basic training and socialisation course, which new puppies can start at any time.
Junior Pet Class
Wednesday and Tuesday evenings 7:30pm - 8:30pm. Classes are £2.00 (payable each time you attend)
This class is for the puppies who have completed their 6 week socialisation course and any new dogs (over 4 months old) which have joined the club. Dogs must have proof of vaccination.
The aim of the class includes:
1. To walk nicely on the lead even when passing other dogs. 2. To wait calmly when the owner stops for any reason. 3. To stay in a sit or a down and wait until they are called. 4.To stay quietly in one position for two minutes. 5. Finally allow the trainer to stroke them for a temperament test.
Senior Pet Class
Wednesday and Tuesday evenings 8.30pm till 9.30pm. Classes are £2.00 (payable each time you attend)
For graduates of the junior pet class, in this class you will be taking what you have learnt in the junior pet class further. You will start to train your dog to walk to heel without a lead, stay in one position (sit or down) and retrieve an article. In this class you will be working towards competitive obedience training.
